Chastaine Flynt Memorial Library – Full-Time Children’s Specialist

This Full Time (40 hours) position assists in all aspects of services to children and youth in the branch library. All job responsibilities are performed under the supervision of the Children’s Supervisor and Branch Manager.

Minimum Qualification:

  1. Associate’s Degree in Education or Early Childhood Development is required. Knowledge of children’s literature, current library practices, and technology is required.
  2. A minimum of two to three years of work experience with children is required.
  3. Good organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to deal effectively with the public and other employees.
  4. Knowledge of and experience with computers.

The annual salary for this position is $18,500.00.

Raleigh Public Library – Branch Manager

Central MS Regional Library System has an opening for a Branch Manager to fill a full-time (40 hours per week) position at the Floyd J. Robinson Memorial Library, Raleigh Public Library in Raleigh, MS. Branch Managers are in charge of all aspects of branch library operations.  Responsible for staff, physical plant, materials, programming, community contacts, and local reference.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:      Requirements will vary depending on the area of assignment.

  1. Education requirements:
    1. Two (2) years of college for Library Assistant II.
    2. Four (4) years of college for Librarian I.
    3. An ALA MLS degree for Librarian II and Librarian III.
  2. Previous work experience in a public library is highly desirable with two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  3. Must be computer literate.
  4. Possess good communication and reference skills.
  5. Be able to lift from 30-40 lbs.
  6. Be able to reach shelves above shoulder height and bend to reach shelves close to the floor.

This position will start August 1, 2021.

The salary for this position is $21,000.00 annually.

Headquarters – Coordinator of Public Relations

Central MS Regional Library System has an opening for a Coordinator of Public Relations to fill a full-time (40 hours/weekly) position at the CMRLS Administrative Offices in Brandon, MS. The starting salary is $25,000.00. The Coordinator of Public Relations provides administrative support to the department and branches to ensure effective, efficient, and productive workflow.  Oversees the daily activities of the Public Information Office to ensure effective system-wide marketing of library services and activities.  Participates in the planning of programs, policies, or objectives for the library system.

A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field; working knowledge of desktop publishing and publication layout is preferred. Associates Degree or equivalent is required.  At least two (2) years of related job experience. Work experience in libraries is preferred. Excellent computer and typing skills, 50 WPM. CMRLS is looking for a candidate who can interact and deal effectively with the public, Library Board, other employees, and public officials.  The successful candidate will also possess strong organizational and communication skills and be able to lift 30-40 lbs.

Forest Public Library – Library Assistant

Central MS Regional Library System has an opening for a part-time Library Assistant position at the Forest Public Library in Forest, Mississippi. This position is for 14 hours weekly and is an hourly position at minimum wage.

The Library Assistant is responsible for the daily duties of shelving and retrieving items from the closed stacks. Responsible for preserving the physical appearance and order of the collection. May assist in working the circulation desk.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School student (16 years or older) or graduate.
  2. Ability to deal effectively with the public and other employees.
  3. Must be able to lift 30-50lbs.
  4. Must be physically able to put items in order on high and low shelves.
  5. Computer literate.
  6. Must make a passing score on the Library Skills test.
