Brandon Public Library – Branch Manager
Central MS Regional Library System has an opening for a Branch Manager to fill a full- time position at the Brandon Public Library in Brandon, MS.
SCOPE: Performs under general supervision, following oral and written instruction. This position reports to the Director and has responsibilities for directing and managing a branch.
BASIC FUNCTION: Branch Managers are responsible for all aspects of branch library operations. Responsible for staff, physical plant, materials, programming, community contacts, and local reference.
1. Education requirements:
· An ALA MLS degree and three (3) years of previous supervisory experience in a public library; or
· Master’s Degree in related field and three (3) years of previous library experience with two (2) of those years in a supervisory position.
2. Must be computer literate.
3. Possess good communication and reference skills.
4. Be able to lift from 30-40 lbs.
5. Be able to reach shelves above shoulder height and bend to reach shelves close to the floor.
Salary for this position will be $32,000.00 – $38,000.00 and will begin April 1, 2020.

G. Chastaine Flynt Memorial Library – Children’s Librarian
Central MS Regional Library System has an opening for a Children’s Librarian to fill a full-time supervisory position at the G. Chastaine Flynt Memorial Library in Flowood, MS. The Children’s Librarian Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of services to children and youth in the branch libraries. All job responsibilities are performed under the supervision of the Branch Manager and Coordinator of Youth Services.
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Early Childhood Development is required. Knowledge of children’s literature, current library practices, and technology is required.
2. A minimum of two (2) years of work experience with children is required.
3. Good organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to deal effectively with the public and other employees.
4. Knowledge of, and experience with, computers.
Salary for this position is $26,000.00

Headquarters – Administrative Assistant
Central MS Regional Library System has an opening for an Administrative Assistant to fill a full time (40 hours/weekly) position at the CMRLS Administrative Offices in Brandon, MS. The starting salary is $22,000.00. The Administrative Assistant provides support to the director, coordinators and business office to ensure an effective, efficient and productive workflow. Participates as a member of the Administrative Council Team, which is responsible for developing policies, procedures, goals and objectives for the library system.
A Bachelor’s degree in business, education, office management or related fields is desired. A minimum of three (3) years related job experience. One (1) year of experience in libraries is preferred. Excellent computer and typing skills, 50 WPM. CMRLS is looking for a candidate who has the ability to interact and deal effectively with the public, Library Board, other employees, and public officials. The successful candidate will also possess strong organizational and communication skills and be able to lift 30-40 lbs.
