Brandon Public Library-Full-time Reference Clerk

 Central MS Regional Library System has an opening for a Full-time (40 hours) Reference Clerk to fill at the Brandon Public Library in Brandon, MS.

The Reference Clerk is responsible for providing general and specialized reference assistance in both traditional and automated environments to library customers. The Reference Clerk also assists with collection development, bibliographic instruction, and reader advisory. A bachelor’s Degree is preferred At least two (2) years of experience in a library or related field is preferred.  The ability to deal effectively with the public and other employees is essential.  Knowledge of, and experience with, electronic resources, CD-ROM applications and the internet is required.

This position will begin April 1, 2024, or until filled.

Salary for this position will begin at $20,800.00 with benefits.

 Central Mississippi Regional Library System has an opening for a Full-Time Cataloger to fill a 40-hours weekly position at the CMRLS Headquarters in Brandon, MS. The salary is $30,000.00 yearly with benefits.   

 The Cataloger is responsible for cataloging monographic and audio-visual materials.  This position oversees the interlibrary loan process for the library system.  

The cataloger is responsible for the automated bibliographic utility duties, responsible for cataloging on the automated system includes supporting database authority work, changing, correcting and updating the database, responsible for the automated bibliographic utility duties, does descriptive and original cataloging of monographic and audio visual materials, responsible for all interlibrary loans for the library system, establishes quality control measures in the cataloging operation to assure that results are in accordance with standards and that the vendor-supplied product meets specifications, ensures that the bibliographic indexes to the library’s collection can be effectively used by our patrons and staff, cooperates as a team member with all library staff in performing any professional or nonprofessional duty essential to the achievement of efficient library operations. The omission of specific statements of duties and responsibilities does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position. 

 A bachelor’s degree is required with previous work experience. Must be computer literate and must be able to successfully navigate an Integrated Library System. Must possess good communication skills. Must be able to deal effectively with the vendors, the public, and other library employees.  Must be able to lift 50 – 60 lbs.

Mendenhall Public Library-Part-time Circulation Clerk

Central MS Regional Library System has an opening for a Circulation Clerk to fill a part time (32 hours per week) position at the Mendenhall Public Library in Mendenhall, MS. The Circulation Clerk is responsible for the daily duties of the circulation desk, shelving and assists in providing service to patrons at the circulation desk. Responsible for preserving the physical appearance and order of the collection. May assist in providing basic reference service.

An Associate’s Degree and previous work experience is preferred.  Computer literacy, good communication, and research skills are a must.  Applicant must be able to lift from 30-40 pounds.

Salary for this position will begin at $18,000.00 with benefits.
