Morton Public Library – Circulation Clerk 

Central MS Regional Library System has an opening for a Circulation Clerk to fill a full time (40 hours per week) position at the Morton Public Library in Morton, MS. The Circulation Clerk is responsible for the daily duties of the circulation desk, shelving and assists in providing service to patrons at the circulation desk. Responsible for preserving the physical appearance and order of the collection. May assist in providing basic reference service.

An Associate’s Degree and previous work experience is preferred.  Computer literacy, good communication, and research skills are a must.  Applicant must be able to lift from 30-40 pounds.

Salary for this position will begin at $18,000.00 annually with benefits.

Brandon Public Library – Youth Services Supervisor 

Central MS Regional Library System has an opening for a full-time Youth Services Supervisor at the Brandon Public Library in Brandon, MS. The Youth Services Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of services to children and youth in the branch libraries. All job responsibilities are performed under the supervision of the Branch Manager.

Minimum qualification:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Early Childhood Development is preferred. Knowledge of children’s literature, current library practices, and technology is required.
  2. A minimum of two (2) years of work experience with children is required.
  3. Good organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to deal effectively with the public and other employees.
  4. Knowledge of, and experience with, computers.

 

Starting salary for this position is $22,000.00 annually with benefits.

Pearl Public Library – Reference Clerk 

 Central MS Regional Library System has two openings for Full-time (40 hours) Reference Clerks to fill at the Pearl Public Library in Pearl, MS.

The Reference Clerk is responsible for providing general and specialized reference assistance in both traditional and automated environments to library customers. The Reference Clerk also assists with collection development, bibliographic instruction, and reader advisory.

Minimum qualification:

  1. A bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
  2. At least two (2) years of experience in a library or related field.
  3. Ability to deal effectively with the public and other employees.
  4. Knowledge of, and experience with, electronic resources, CD-ROM applications and the internet.

Salary for this position will begin at $19,000.00 with benefits.

Forest Public Library – Part Time Youth Services Specialist

Central MS Regional Library System has an opening for a Youth Specialist to fill a part time (24 hours per week) position at the Forest Public Library in Forest, MS. The position plans and develops all aspects of services to children and youth in the branch library. All job responsibilities are performed under the supervision of the Branch Manager.

  1. Associate’s Degree in Education or Early Childhood Development is preferred. Knowledge of children’s literature, current library practices, and technology is required.
  2. A minimum of two to three years of work experience with children is required.
  3. Good organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to deal effectively with the public and other employees.
  4. Knowledge of and experience with computers.

Hourly pay is $12.00. The position has benefits. The position will start on August 1, 2022 or until position is filled.

Headquarters Location: Brandon, MS – Assistant Director

Central MS Regional Library System has an opening for an Assistant Director to fill a full time (40 hour) position at the Headquarters Location in Brandon, MS.  Under the supervision of the Library Director, the Assistant Director serves as second-in-command of the Central Mississippi Regional Library System. The Assistant Director is responsible in assisting with the planning, formulating, and implementing policies; preparing and monitoring an operational budget; managing and supervising personnel; preparing reports and other analyses of library services.  The Assistant Director also provides leadership in planning, implementing, and maintaining an automation system.

The salary for this position starts at $50,000.00 annually with benefits.  Starting date is October 1, 2022.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master’s Degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited graduate school with knowledge of current library practices and technology.
  2. A minimum of five (5) years of Public Library experience, three (3) of which have been in library management, administration, or automation.
  3. Excellent management, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to deal effectively with the public, Library Board, other employees, and elected officials.
  4. Requires the ability to travel among various library branches.
  5. Be able to lift 30-40 lbs.
